Regular Season Round 21: Mgzavrebi - Olimpi 81-87

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi: Olimpi (#5) and Mgzavrebi (#7). Mgzavrebi was defeated at home 81-87 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Point guard Givi Bakradze (180-91) stepped up and scored 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and guard Gegi Baqradze (203-94) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Five Olimpi players scored in double figures. Olimpi's coach Leonid Ivatin used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Adrian Bowie (189-89, college: Maryland) with 33 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field) and international Kakhaber Jintcharadze (195-93) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Olimpi (11-8) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Cactus Tbilisi. Mgzavrebi at the other side keeps the seventh position with 12 games lost. Olimpi will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Mgzavrebi will play on the road against DELTA (#8) in Marneuli and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
