The game between closely ranked teams ended with bottom-ranked Rilski 2's (0-5) home loss to fifth ranked Balkan 2 (2-3) 80-84 on Sunday. Balkan 2 forced 25 Rilski 2 turnovers. Strangely Rilski 2 outrebounded Balkan 2 40-24 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Aleksandar Iliev (196-96) stepped up and scored 24 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and power forward Rumen Vasilev (205-96) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. Power forward Nikolay Gelov (206-98) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and swingman Miroslav Vasov (198-98) scored 22 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Rilski 2's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Balkan 2 moved-up to fourth place in A. Loser Rilski 2 still closes the standings with five games lost. Balkan 2 will face league's second-placed Akademik Sofia at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rilski 2 will play against Chernomorets (#5) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
