Regular Season Round 9: Meralco Bolts - B.Ginebra 84-82

A very interesting game took place in Manila. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of higher ranked B.Ginebra (5-5) to eleventh ranked Meralco Bolts (4-6) 84-82 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of B.Ginebra. The best player for the winners was center Jason Ballesteros (201-85) who scored 7 points and 17 rebounds. Guard Chris Newsome (187-90, college: N.Mexico Highlands) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Scottie Thompson (188-93) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and center Japeth Aguilar (206-87, college: W.Kentucky) added 20 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Meralco Bolts moved-up to ninth place, which they share with TNT Ka Tropa and Blackwater. B.Ginebra at the other side keeps the sixth position with five games lost. Meralco Bolts' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Hotshots in Pasig City and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
