Regular Season Round 17: Maccabi Ashdod - Maccabi T-A 86-92

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Ashdod. First ranked Maccabi T-A faced 4th placed Maccabi Ashdod. Guests from Tel-Aviv (14-3) defeated host Maccabi Ashdod (9-8) 92-86. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Maccabi Ashdod. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Maccabi Ashdod won third quarter 25-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi T-A looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American point guard Pierre Jackson (180-91, college: Baylor) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners and naturalized American point guard John DiBartolomeo (183-91, college: Rochester, agency: Duran International) chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. DiBartolomeo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American-Jamaican guard Sek Henry (193-87, college: Nebraska) responded with 29 points and 5 assists and American guard Cameron Long (192-88, college: George Mason, agency: Inception Sports) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Maccabi T-A have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 14-3 record. Maccabi Ashdod at the other side keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. They share it with Galil Gilboa and Hapoel T-A. Maccabi T-A will meet at home Ironi Nes-Ziona (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Maccabi Ashdod will play against the league's second-placed Hapoel Holon (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
