Bottom-ranked Hapoel Afula managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the series of seven consecutive losses on Tuesday night. This time they edged ninth-ranked Hap.Haifa 83-82. Hapoel Afula made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American power forward Jeff Allen (201-87, college: Virginia Tech) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winners. His fellow American import guard Chester Simmons (196-82, college: Washington) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 assists. Hapoel Afula's coach Yossi Buhnick used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Cuban center Ismael Romero (203-91, agency: Paris Global Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds and American guard Kerry Carter (188-91, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 24 points respectively for lost side. Hapoel Afula maintains fourteenth place with 4-15 record. Hap.Haifa lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Elitzur Yavne. Hapoel Afula will meet higher ranked Hap.R/G Givat. (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hap.Haifa will play against Maccabi K/G having rather not much hope for a victory.
