Regular Season Round 41: Fuerza Regia - Abejas 88-82

Not a big story in a game in Monterrey where 9th ranked Abejas (13-27) were defeated by fourth ranked Fuerza Regia (24-15) 88-82 on Tuesday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Fuerza Regia looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Ricardo Powell (199-83, college: S.Carolina) who had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 13 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). His fellow American import forward Jordan Glynn (200-89, college: SF Austin) chipped in 23 points. Fuerza Regia's coach Paco Olmos used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Greg Smith (198-91, college: Colorado St.) produced 41 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and the former international forward Michael Lizarraga (200-89, college: CS Northridge) added 6 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Fuerza Regia moved-up to third place. Abejas lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 27 games lost. Fuerza Regia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Abejas will play against Toros (#6) and hope to secure a win.
