Regular Season Round 20: MuKi - Karkkila 66-67

The most exciting game of round 20 in the 1st Division took place in Helsinki. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of second-ranked MuKi (16-4) to fifth ranked Karkkila (13-7) 67-66 on Friday evening. The guests trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 35-27 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Karkkila dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to MuKi's 24. The best player for the winners was American center Byron Burnett (206-82, college: FIU) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points, 21 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import forward HL Coleman (202-74, college: Wyoming) chipped in 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Karkkila players scored in double figures. Filemon Halmesmaki (193-0) produced 18 points and American swingman Calvin Ward-III (188, college: Missouri Valley) added 16 points respectively for the hosts. MuKi's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Karkkila moved-up to fourth place in Division. MuKi at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Karkkila are looking forward to face JyWe (#6) in Jyvaskyla in the next round. MuKi's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Helsinki to the arena HNMKY U23.
