There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Innova Chef (11-11) was smashed by ninth ranked Estudiantes L. (11-11) in Lugo 89-64 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Estudiantes L.. Innova Chef was better in second period 16-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Estudiantes L. made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Innova Chef was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Senegalese forward Mor Niang (201-99) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks. Guard Jose-Antonio Lopez (190-96) contributed with 25 points for the winners. Four Estudiantes L. players scored in double figures. Center Pablo Martinez (201-95) replied with 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American swingman Corey Raley-Ross (193-91, college: Buffalo) added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Innova Chef. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Estudiantes L. moved-up to seventh place in Group A-B, which they share with Ponferrada CDP and Innova Chef. Estudiantes L. will face Naron (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
