Regular Season Round 24: JAC Sants - Pardinyes-L. 72-63

There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked JAC Sants (5-13) beat second-best Pardinyes-L. (13-5) in Barcelona 72-63 on Sunday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-5. But Pardinyes-L. won second period 25-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. JAC Sants dominated on the defensive end, holding Pardinyes-L. to just 5 points in first quarter. They made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Pardinyes-L. 39-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. Pardinyes-L. was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Javier Balastegui (187-97) who led his team to a victory with 27 points and 7 rebounds. Guard David Fernandez (187-97) contributed with 8 points for the winners. Point guard Pau Lopez (181-84) replied with 20 points and forward Pol Domingo (198-90) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Pardinyes-L.Pardinyes-L.'s coach Gerard Encuentra rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. JAC Sants moved-up to eleventh place in Group C-B, which they share with Andorra II. Loser Pardinyes-L. keeps the second position with five games lost. JAC Sants will face Cerdanyola (#14) in Cerdanyola del Valle in the next round. Pardinyes-L. will play at home against Mataro Feimat (#8) and hope to win that game.
