No shocking result in a game when third ranked Panionios (12-4) crushed 11th ranked Panathlitikos (3-13) in Athens 81-53. It looked good early as Panathlitikos took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Panionios had a 24-7 second period charge getting the lead and Panathlitikos was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 53-81. Panionios dominated on the defensive end, holding Panathlitikos to just 7 points in second quarter. They made 17-of-18 charity shots (94.4 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Panathlitikos 39-20 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Katie Healy (185-94, college: St.Bonaventure) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Aikaterini Spatharou (172-83) chipped in 14 points and 6 assists. Four Panionios players scored in double figures. Canadian swingman Cassandra Brown (188-92, college: Portland) produced 14 points and forward Antigoni Chairistanidou (188-91) added 12 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Panionios maintains third position with 12-4 record having four points less than leader Olympiacos. Panathlitikos lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 13 games lost. Panionios' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Athens to the arena Panathinaikos.
