The game in Hyvinkaa was also quite interesting. 4th placed ViVe (14-9) played at the court of fifth ranked HyPo (15-8). HyPo managed to secure a 8-point victory 77-69 on Wednesday. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of ViVe. The hosts trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 24-10 charge, which allowed them to win the game. HyPo looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international center Taru Tuukkanen (192-77, college: Xavier) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists. American guard Candice Warthen (165-92, college: Arizona) accounted for 10 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. HyPo's coach Miikka Sopanen used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American swingman Pachis Roberts (180-94, college: Georgia) came up with 24 points and 6 rebounds and Noora Jarvikangas (184-94, college: ORU) added 12 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for ViVe in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place. Loser ViVe dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost. HyPo will meet Helmi Basket (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. ViVe will play against Peli-Karhut (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
