Date: March 2, 2018
The game between sixth ranked Toros (21-17) and 11th ranked Panteras (7-30) in Nuevo Laredo on Friday ended with biggest points difference. Toros beat guests from Aguascalientes 97-80. Toros looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a quality performance for American-Puerto Rican swingman Alex Franklin (198-88, college: Siena) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Brandon Swannegan (206-93, college: Tulsa) accounted for 22 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Toros' coach Jose Martinez Boglio allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American power forward Christophe Massie (206-77, college: Memphis) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import forward Brad Johnson (201, college: Dominican, CA) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Panteras in the defeat. Five Panteras players scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Toros. They maintain sixth place with 21-17 record. Panteras lost their thirteenth game in a row. They stay dead last with 30 lost games. Toros will again meet at home bottom-ranked Panteras (#11) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Panteras will have a break next round.
