Regular Season Round 20: Apollon Patras - Marousi 86-58

Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Marousi (8-12) was rolled over on the road by fourth ranked Apollon Patras (13-7) 86-58 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Apollon Patras. Marousi was better in second period 22-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Apollon Patras had a 31-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Alex Acker (196-83, college: Pepperdine) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 9 rebounds and center Costis Gontikas (206-94, college: New York U.) who added 16 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Four Apollon Patras players scored in double figures. Andreas Rekouniotis (200-95) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and forward Eugenios Sergienko (203-98) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Apollon Patras maintains fourth position with 13-7 record. Marousi lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh place with 12 games lost. Apollon Patras will face bottom-ranked AE Larissas (#16) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Marousi will play against Kastoria (#5) and hope to win that game.
