Important game to mention about took place in Bilbao. Thirteenth ranked Gipuzkoa (9-12) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 16th ranked RETAbet BB (6-15) 74-71 on Sunday evening. RETAbet BB was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Gipuzkoa dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to RETAbet BB's 20. The best player for the winners was Dutch center Henk Norel (213-87) who scored 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Canadian point guard Kenny Chery (180-92, college: Baylor) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four Gipuzkoa players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Alex Mumbru (202-79, agency: BeoBasket) who recorded 15 points and Argentinian guard Lucio Redivo (183-94) added 18 points respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Gipuzkoa moved-up to twelfth place. RETAbet BB lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the fifteenth position with 15 games lost. Gipuzkoa will face higher ranked Unicaja Malaga (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. RETAbet BB will play against Valencia Basket (#3) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
