Regular Season Round 18: Steaua CSM - BC Timisoara 89-94

Very significant was BC Timisoara's (#4) 94-89 road victory against 5th ranked Steaua CSM. Steaua CSM was ahead by 11 points after three quarters before a 35-19 charge of BC Timisoara, which allowed them to win the game. Steaua CSM was plagued by 37 personal fouls down the stretch. Serbian guard Mladen Jeremic (198-88, agency: 011 Sports) notched 29 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Cuban-American center Adrian Diaz (213-93, college: FIU) supported him with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Even 18 points and 7 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) by Serbian power forward Dragan Zekovic (209-87, agency: BeoBasket) did not help to save the game for Steaua CSM. American point guard Brandon Taylor (178-94, college: Utah) added 17 points and 6 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Steaua CSM's coach Jukka Toijala rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. BC Timisoara have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Oradea. Steaua CSM at the other side keeps the fifth position with six games lost. BC Timisoara will play against Oradea (#4) at home in the next round. Steaua CSM will play against the league's second-placed UBT Cluj Napoca and hopes to get back on the winning track.
