Regular Season Round 25: Sammic ISB - Melilla 71-67

There was an upset in Azpeitia where 4th placed Melilla Baloncesto (17-8) was defeated by fifteenth ranked Sammic ISB (9-16) 71-67 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 14 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 4 points. Serbian power forward Vasilije Vucetic (209-96) stepped up and scored 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and Bosnian Mirza Bulic (207-92) chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side naturalized Senegalese power forward Mamadou Samb (210-89) responded with 12 points and 5 rebounds and Pablo Almazan (202-89) scored 14 points. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Sammic ISB have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted Sammic ISB maintains fifteenth place with 9-16 record. Loser Melilla Baloncesto keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. Sammic ISB will face higher ranked Castello (#6) in Castellon in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Melilla Baloncesto will play at home against Leyma Basquet and hope to win that game.
