Regular Season Round 24: Challans - Brissac Anjou 80-79
Date: March 6, 2018
Tenth-ranked Brissac-Aubance (10-14) made lots of trouble for sixth ranked Vendee Challans (15-9). Vendee Challans managed to secure only one-point victory 80-79. However their fans expected much easier game. The winners were led by naturalized Mali point guard Ibrahim Saounera (179-87) who scored that evening 21 points and 7 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and point guard Paul Turpin (190-93) supported him with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 23 points and 8 rebounds by American-Nigerian forward Zimmy Nwogbo (201-91, college: Cedarville, agency: Duran International) did not help to save the game for Brissac-Aubance. Senegalese center Moise Diame (206-86) added 12 points and 12 rebounds. Five Vendee Challans and four Brissac-Aubance players scored in double figures. Vendee Challans have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Chartres. Newly promoted Brissac-Aubance dropped to the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Vendee Challans' next round opponent will be league's leader Gries/Oberhoffen in Bischwiller and it may be quite challenging game. Brissac-Aubance will play at home against Saint-Quentin (#4) and hope to win that game.
