There was no surprise in Santander where 7th ranked Valladolid Univ. (12-12) was crushed by first ranked Estela (23-1) 95-61 on Saturday. The game without a history. Estela led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Estela outrebounded Valladolid Univ. 44-25 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Valladolid Univ.'s players. The best player for the winners was forward Carlos Iradier (199-94) who scored 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Czech center Tomas Hampl (215-88) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. Five Estela players scored in double figures. Guard Alejandro Heras (189-95) produced 7 points and 5 rebounds and Alberto Garcia added 11 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Estela have an impressive 17-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group A-A with 23-1 record, which they share with Zornotza. Loser Valladolid Univ. dropped to the eighth place with 12 games lost. Estela will face league's second-placed Zornotza in Amorebieta-Echano in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Valladolid Univ. will play at home against Burgos (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
