Regular Season Round 26: Sant Josep - Menorca 67-73

Very expected game in Badalona where 6th ranked Sant Josep (11-8) was defeated by second ranked Menorca (15-5) 73-67 on Sunday. Menorca made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Sant Josep was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was power forward Andreu Matali (204-81) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Forward Gabriel Torres (198-89) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Miquel Fons (185-98) produced 17 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and guard Gerard Blat (181-97) added 15 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Menorca have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They keep a position of Group C-A leader, which they share with Vive El Masnou. Newly promoted Sant Josep keeps the sixth place with eight games lost. Menorca will face Roser (#14) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Sant Josep will play against Cantaires Tortosa (#12) and hope to win that game.
