Regular Season Round 27: Shimane SM - Chiba Jets 71-97

Very expected game when 5th ranked Shimane Magic (7-35) was crushed at home by first ranked Chiba Jets (31-11) 97-71 on Sunday. Shimane Magic was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri) helped adding 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was power forward Jameel McKay (206-92, college: Iowa St.) with 19 points and 5 rebounds and forward Josh Scott (208-93, college: Colorado, agency: Pensack Sports) scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Chiba Jets. They maintain first place with 31-11 record, which they share with Toyota Alvark. Shimane Magic lost their sixteenth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the fifth position with 35 games lost. Chiba Jets will face Tochigi Brex (#4) at home in the next round. Shimane Magic will play against the league's leader Ryukyu GK in Okinawa and hope to win that game.
