Regular Season Round 25: Libertas - Oleggio 75-87

Rather predictable result in Livorno where twelfth ranked Oleggio (11-14) beat bottom-ranked Libertas (0-25) 87-75 on Sunday. Oleggio forced 21 Libertas turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Libertas' players. Libertas were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international power forward Matteo Canavesi (204-86, agency: Players Group) fired 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Point guard Penny Hidalgo (175-96) chipped in 15 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Center Mattia Soloperto (208-80) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and power forward Gianluca Giorgi (200-95) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Libertas' coach Gabriele Pardini tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Oleggio moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Scauri. Libertas lost their twenty fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with 25 games lost. Oleggio will face league's second-placed Firenze All Foods at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Libertas will play against Alba (#13) and hope to get finally their first victory.
