Regular Season Round 22: Tokyo Big Blue - Otsuka A. 52-72

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Tokyo: Otsuka A. (#2) and Tokyo Big Blue (#8). Tokyo Big Blue was smashed at home by 20 points 52-72 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Tokyo Big Blue. Otsuka A. forced 22 Tokyo Big Blue turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American forward Kyle Richardson (201-91, college: Portland St.) had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Ray Nixon (203-84, college: Wisconsin) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American center Joe Wolfinger (216-85, college: Citadel) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 18 rebounds and swingman Ryo Kuroki (192-93) scored 7 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Otsuka A. maintains second position with 23-9 record behind leader Tokyo HT. Tokyo Big Blue at the other side keeps the eighth place with 25 games lost. Otsuka A.'s supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tokyo to the arena .
