Regular Season Round 26: Valencia II - L Alfas 91-66

Date: March 11, 2018
Rather predictable result when third ranked Valencia-2 (14-6) outscored at home 5th ranked L Alfas (12-8) 91-66 on Sunday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Valencia-2's pressure prevailed and they won that period 33-14 extending their advantage to 25 points. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 59.1 percentage. Valencia-2 looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The best player for the winners was Jon Galarza (193-97) who scored 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from downtown making all five shots). Icelandic center Tryggvi Hlinason (215-97) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Five Valencia-2 players scored in double figures. Valencia-2's coach Angel Cepeda felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American-Nigerian forward Udun Osakue (198-92, college: San Francisco St.) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds and power forward Alejandro Rivas (203-98) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Valencia-2 have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position in Group E with 14-6 record having just three points less than leader Vic. Loser L Alfas keeps the fifth place with eight games lost. Valencia-2 will face UAF Lucentum (#11) in Alicante in the next round and are hoping to win another game. L Alfas will play at home against Sagunto (#9) and hope to win that game.
