Regular Season Round 25: Lucentum - Navarra 71-82

Date: March 16, 2018
The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked HLA Alicante (18-7) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by eighth ranked Navarra (13-12) 82-71. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of HLA Alicante. The game was mostly controlled by Navarra. HLA Alicante managed to win third quarter 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Navarra dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to HLA Alicante's 30. They outrebounded HLA Alicante 43-21 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. American-Ivorian forward Moussa Kone (203-93, college: Hofstra, agency: Dynamics Global Management) stepped up and scored 21 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners and forward Adrian Garcia (201-85) chipped in 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side point guard Pedro Rivero (186-79) responded with 26 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and point guard Alvaro Lobo (192-92, agency: Duran International) scored 20 points. HLA Alicante's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Navarra moved-up to sixth place, which they share with L'Hospitalet. HLA Alicante at the other side dropped to the third position with seven games lost. Navarra is looking forward to face Fundacion 5+11 (#10) in Baskonia in the next round. HLA Alicante will play on the road against the league's second-placed La Roda (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
