ASEFA Estudiantes' fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after 23 consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Zamarat (6-18) 76-64 on Friday. They outrebounded Zamarat 47-28 including a 37-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American guard Shay Selby (175-90, college: Duke) who led her team to a victory with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Celia Menendez (186-90, agency: ProDep Management) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Five ASEFA Estudiantes players scored in double figures. Guard Marina Lizarazu (173-95, college: Iona) replied with 13 points and 7 rebounds and Argentinian center Gisela Vega (188-82, agency: ProDep Management) added 5 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Zamarat. Newly promoted ASEFA Estudiantes maintains fourteenth position with 1-23 record. Zamarat at the other side keeps the twelfth place with 18 games lost. ASEFA Estudiantes are looking forward to face higher ranked Mann Filter (#3) in Zaragoza in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Zamarat will play at home against the league's second-placed Argon Uni Girona (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
