Regular Season Round 27: Teguise - Tenerife Naut. 74-75

Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked Tenerife Naut. (14-10) edged on the road 16th ranked Teguise (3-20) 75-74 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Teguise won fourth quarter 25-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for Danish swingman Mads Sturup (195-97, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who saved his team from a defeat with 23 points. Guard Roberto de-la-Rosa (193-85) contributed with 8 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Tenerife Naut. players scored in double figures. American guard Steve Coffey (183-87, college: Kutztown) answered with 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Sean Harris (201, college: Utah St.) added 26 points and 7 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) in the effort for Teguise. Teguise's coach Pablo Melo tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Tenerife Naut.. They maintain sixth place in Group B with 14-10 record. Newly promoted Teguise keeps the sixteenth position with 20 games lost. Tenerife Naut. will face higher ranked Villarrobledo (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Teguise will play against the league's leader Azuqueca (#1) and hope to win that game.
