Regular Season Round 27: Igualada - Vic 102-88

There was a minor upset when leader Vic (17-4) lost on the road to third ranked Igualada (15-6) 102-88 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Igualada. Vic was better in second period 27-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Igualada looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a good game for Jordi Torres (188-83) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Eduard Burges (190-90) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Samuel Dominguez (204-91, college: La Palma) answered with 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and point guard Julian Garrote (185-82) added 18 points and 4 assists in the effort for Vic. Five Igualada and four Vic players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Igualada. They maintain third place in Group C-B with 15-6 record having just two points less than leader Vic, which they share with Valls Nutrion. Newly promoted Vic still keeps top position with four games lost. Igualada will face Valls Nutrion (#4) on the road in the next round. Vic will play against Andorra II and hope to win that game.
