Regular Season Round 27: Lliria - Gandia 57-86

Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked Lliria (9-12) was outscored at home by first ranked Gandia (17-4) 86-57 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-57. It was a good game for American forward Faith Pope (201-95, college: Texas Arlington) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Matthew Temple (208, college: Texas Tech) contributed with 11 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Center Candido Matoso (207-92) answered with 9 points and 10 rebounds and forward David Guardia (200-90) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Lliria. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Gandia. They maintain first place in Group E with 17-4 record. Lliria lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with 12 games lost. Gandia will face league's second-placed UCAM Murcia II at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Lliria will play against UAF Lucentum (#11) in Alicante and hope to win that game.
