Regular Season Round 22: Kastoria - AE Larissas 101-90

Very predictable result when fifth ranked Kastoria (13-9) won against at home bottom-ranked AE Larissas (2-20) 101-90 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 101-90. Kastoria dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to AE Larissas' 36. They outrebounded AE Larissas 38-22 including 24 on the defensive glass. Kastoria looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by AE Larissas' players. It was a very good performance for Apostolos Naoumis (198-93) who helped to win the game recording 21 points. The former international power forward Tasos Charismidis (203-81) contributed with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Kastoria players scored in double figures. Kastoria's coach Giorgos Soulios used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Sotiris Gioulekas (203-79) replied with 26 points and 5 rebounds and guard Nikolaos Kamaras (196-97) added 17 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for AE Larissas. Newly promoted Kastoria maintains fifth position with 13-9 record. AE Larissas lost nineteenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 20 lost games. Kastoria will face Arkadikos (#14) in Arkadia in the next round and are hoping to win another game. AE Larissas will play at home against Amyntas Dafnis and hope to win that game.
