Regular Season Round 27: Pielagos - Cantbasket 70-91

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 4th placed Pielagos (16-9) was outscored by fifth ranked Cantbasket (16-9) in Renedo de Pielagos 91-70 on Sunday. The game without a history. Cantbasket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Cantbasket outrebounded Pielagos 38-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American power forward Davie Champagnie (206-90, college: Martin Methodist, agency: SPORTlab Agency) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard David Garcia (192-80) contributed with 14 points and 9 assists for the winners. Canadian forward Pape Seck (208, college: Simon Fraser) answered with 14 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Ron Lee (188, college: Cent.Methodist) added 16 points in the effort for Pielagos. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Cantbasket. They moved-up to fourth place in Group A-A, which they share with Pielagos and Santurtzi. Cantbasket will face Mondragon (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Pielagos will play against Santurtzi (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
