Regular Season Round 27: Menorca - Roser 88-66

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Roser (5-16) was outleveled by first ranked Menorca (16-5) in Mahon 88-66 on Sunday. The game without a history. Menorca led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Roser's 22. They outrebounded Roser 37-25 including 23 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for forward Sergi Llufriu (196-95) who led his team to a victory with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Quim Salvans (187-98) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Five Menorca players scored in double figures. Point guard Xavier Assalit (187-95) answered with 13 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Joan Gavalda added 14 points in the effort for Roser. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Menorca. They maintain first place in Group C-A with 16-5 record. Newly promoted Roser keeps the fourteenth position with 16 games lost. Menorca will face AEC Collblanc (#4) in L´Hospitalet in the next round. Roser will play at home against Cantaires Tortosa (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
