Regular Season Round 23: Gipuzkoa GBC - Estudiantes 101-91

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 13th ranked Movil Estudiantes' (8-14) road loss to twelfth ranked Gipuzkoa (10-13) 91-101 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 101-91. Gipuzkoa dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Movil Estudiantes' 36 and made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for Dutch center Henk Norel (213-87) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points. Canadian point guard Kenny Chery (180-92, college: Baylor) helped adding 20 points. American-Israeli swingman Sylven Landesberg (198-90, college: Virginia) responded with 22 points and point guard Dario Brizuela (191-94) scored 13 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Gipuzkoa maintains twelfth place with 10-13 record. Movil Estudiantes lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 14 games lost. Gipuzkoa will face higher ranked UCAM Murcia (#11) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Movil Estudiantes will play against Burgos and hope to win that game.
