There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Virtus Roma (8-17) beat at home higher ranked Agrigento (12-13) 89-72 on Sunday. Virtus Roma dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Agrigento's 24. They outrebounded Agrigento 36-21 including 25 on the defensive glass. Quite impressive performance for American power forward Lee Roberts (201-87, college: Findlay, OH) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Aaron Thomas (196-91, college: Florida St.) contributed with 22 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. American forward Jalen Cannon (198-93, college: St.Francis, NY) answered with 15 points and 7 rebounds and guard Marco Evangelisti (198-84) added 17 points (made all of his seven free throws) in the effort for Agrigento. Four Agrigento players scored in double figures. Virtus Roma maintains fifteenth place in A2 with 8-17 record. Loser Agrigento keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. Virtus Roma will face higher ranked Remer Treviglio (#13) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
