Everything went according to plan in Lodz where sixth ranked AZS UMCS (14-8) beat bottom-ranked Widzew (3-19) 77-61. The winners were led by Nigerian forward Uju Ugoka (185-93, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Two Points) who scored that evening 26 points and 8 rebounds and Serbian Dajana Butulija (174-86, agency: BeoBasket) supported her with 18 points and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Even 12 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 blocks by American swingman Kathleen Scheer (187-89, college: Duke) did not help to save the game for Widzew. Guard Julia Drop (175-95) added 12 points and 4 assists. Four Widzew players scored in double figures. AZS UMCS maintains sixth position with 14-8 record. Widzew lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom. They share the position with MKK Siedlce. AZS UMCS will play against higher ranked Energa Torun (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Widzew will play against AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski (#7) in Gorzow Wlkp. and hopes to get back on the winning track.
