Regular Season Round 13: Sampaio - Catanduva 85-42

Date: March 23, 2018
Bottom-ranked Catanduva is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their 12th consecutive match to second ranked Sampaio (9-2) 85-42. Sampaio held Catanduva to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 46.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Sampaio forced 20 Catanduva turnovers and outrebounded them 52-20 including a 15-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Briahanna Jackson (168-93, college: Louisville) fired 21 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. The former international forward Joice Coelho (175-93) chipped in 7 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. The former international center Tatiana Conceicao (187-81, college: SE Missouri St.) produced 16 points and guard Fernanda Santana (179-84) added 10 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Sampaio. They maintain second place with 9-2 record having four points less than leader Campinas. Catanduva lost their twelfth game in a row. They still close the standings with 12 games lost. Sampaio will have a break next round. Catanduva will play on the road against Pres.Valceslau (#8) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
