Regular Season Round 20: AEK - Lavrio 96-86

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Lavrio (13-7) against fifth ranked AEK (13-7) on Saturday night. Visiting Lavrio was defeated by AEK in Athens 96-86. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Lavrio. AEK dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Lavrio's 36 and made 25-of-29 charity shots (86.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Lavrio 45-27 including a 34-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Lavrio was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by American swingman Manny Harris (196-89, college: Michigan) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 19 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists and American-Guyanese forward Delroy James (203-87, college: Rhode Island) supported him with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Even a double-double of 23 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists by American guard McKenzie Moore (198-92, college: UTEP) did not help to save the game for Lavrio. American-Panamanian guard Doron Lamb (193-91, college: Kentucky) added 14 points and 5 assists for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. AEK moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Lavrio. AEK will play against league's second-placed Olympiacos in Pireus in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Lavrio will play on the road against Panionios in Athens and hopes to get back on the winning track.
