Very predictable result in Madrid where third ranked Almansa (19-5) defeated 9th ranked Estudiantes B (11-13) 75-68 on Saturday. Almansa dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Estudiantes B's 20. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Thomas Granado (208-88, college: Concordia Irvine, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and power forward Jose Santonja (200-92) who added 19 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Almansa's coach Ruben Perello allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side naturalized South African swingman Alex Tamayo (199-0) responded with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and Chilean guard Ignacio Arroyo (185-0) scored 17 points. Four Estudiantes B players scored in double figures. Almansa have an impressive nine-game winning streak. Newly promoted Almansa maintains third position in Group B with 19-5 record having just three point less than leader Vic. Loser Estudiantes B keeps the ninth place with 13 games lost. Almansa will face league's second-placed Real Madrid II at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Estudiantes B will play against Rivas (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
