Regular Season Round 23: Arkadikos - Kastoria 71-85

There was no surprise in Arkadia where 14th ranked Arkadikos (6-17) was defeated by fifth ranked Kastoria (14-9) 85-71. The game was mostly controlled by Kastoria. Arkadikos was better in fourth quarter 27-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kastoria shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Giannis Kyriakopoulos (185-83) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 4 assists. Forward Giorgos Brozos (198-86, college: Furman) accounted for 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Forward Giannis Prodromou (196-87) came up with 18 points and 6 rebounds and center Savvas Tsougarakis (207-86) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Arkadikos in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Kastoria maintains fifth place with 14-9 record. Arkadikos at the other side keeps the fourteenth position with 17 games lost. Kastoria will play against Ermis Agias (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Arkadikos will play against Amyntas Dafnis (#6) in Athens and hopes to get back on the winning track.
