Second Stage Round 5: Gorizont - Gomel-Sozh 62-48

An interesting game for Gorizont (20-10) which hosted in Minsk 4th placed Gomel-Sozh (12-18). Third ranked Gorizont managed to get a 14-point victory 62-48. The game was mostly controlled by Gorizont. Gomel-Sozh was better in third quarter 13-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gorizont held Gomel-Sozh to an opponent 23.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 34.8 percent accuracy of the winners. The former international guard Natallia Anufryienka (174-85) stepped up and scored 13 points and 7 assists for the winners and international guard Volha Ziuzkova (171-83) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. Gorizont's coach Nataliya Trafimava allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Marina Rakovskaia (173-92) responded with 18 points and 8 rebounds and center Alesia Lalovich (188-79) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 15 rebounds. Gorizont have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 20-10 record having six points less than leader COR Victoria. Gomel-Sozh lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with 18 games lost. Gorizont will play against league's leader Olimpia in Grodno in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Gomel-Sozh will play on the road against the league's second-placed Tsmoki-Minsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
