Regular Season Round 29: Valladolid - Melilla 95-70

We should mention about the upset which took place in Valladolid, where higher ranked Melilla Baloncesto (18-11) was outleveled in a road game by ninth ranked Blancos de Rueda (14-15) 95-70. The game was mostly controlled by Blancos de Rueda. Melilla Baloncesto was better in fourth quarter 21-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Blancos de Rueda shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 63.6 percentage. Center Sergio De-La-Fuente (198-89) nailed 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and point guard Oscar Alvarado (184-91) accounted for 13 points and 7 assists. Five Blancos de Rueda players scored in double figures. Center Fran Guerra (214-92) came up with 10 points and 6 rebounds and guard Eduardo Duran (190-91, agency: Duran International) added 13 points respectively for Melilla Baloncesto in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Blancos de Rueda have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted Blancos de Rueda maintains ninth place with 14-15 record. Melilla Baloncesto at the other side keeps the fifth position with 11 games lost. Blancos de Rueda's next round opponent will be higher ranked Castello (#6) in Castellon and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Melilla Baloncesto will play at home against CB Prat and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
