Regular Season Round 24: Real Betis - Unicaja 89-88

A very close game took place in Sevilla between Real Betis and Unicaja Malaga. Seventeenth ranked Real Betis (6-18) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Unicaja Malaga (14-10). Real Betis managed to escape with a 1-point win 89-88 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Unicaja Malaga was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Five Real Betis players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Polish Adam Waczynski (199-89) with 20 points and Serbian point guard Nemanja Nedovic (191-91, agency: BeoBasket) scored 13 points and 5 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Real Betis moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with Burgos. Loser Unicaja Malaga keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. They share it with Andorra. Real Betis will meet higher ranked Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (#6) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Unicaja Malaga will play against the league's leader Real Madrid where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
