Regular Season Round 29: Sammic ISB - FC Barcelona II 66-86

Everything could happen in Azpeitia at the game between two tied teams. Both seventeenth ranked Barca II and 18th ranked Sammic ISB had identical 9-19 record. But Sammic ISB was not able to use a home court advantage and was smashed by the opponent from Barcelona 86-66. The game was mostly controlled by Barca II. Sammic ISB was better in fourth quarter 24-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Barca II dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Sammic ISB's 32. They outrebounded Sammic ISB 44-29 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Canadian guard Joe De-Ciman (198-94, college: Colorado St.) came up with 17 points and Bosnian Mirza Bulic (207-92) added 7 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Sammic ISB in the defeat. Sammic ISB's coach Lorenzo Encinas rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Barca II (10-19) moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with CB Clavijo and Palma. Sammic ISB lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 20 games lost. Barca II's next round opponent will be higher ranked Leyma Basquet (#8) in Coruna and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sammic ISB will play on the road against Palma (#16) in S'Arenal and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
