The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Al Riyadi as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group A. Al Riyadi edged 4th placed Sagesse in Beirut 85-84. They outrebounded Sagesse 46-32 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international swingman Jean Abdel-Nour (198-83) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and the former international point guard Wael Arakji (194-94) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. The best for the losing side was American forward Dewayne Jackson (203-90, college: Morgan St., agency: Higher Vision Sports) with 32 points and the former international Jasmon Youngblood (195-84, college: Kent St.) scored 20 points and 8 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Sagesse at the other side dropped to the fifth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Champville. Sagesse will play next round against strong Beirut Club trying to get back on the winning streak. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beirut - Beirut Club. Al Riyadi will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
