Second-ranked Diamond Dolphins (24-23) gave a tough game to first ranked Aishin Sea Horses (39-8) in Kariya. Aishin Sea Horses managed to secure only one-point victory 91-90. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Diamond Dolphins. Aishin Sea Horses players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Diamond Dolphins were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: Appalachian St.) notched a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) to lead the effort and the former international center JR Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) supported him with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Even 20 points and 5 rebounds by guard Takaya Sasayama (178-93) did not help to save the game for Diamond Dolphins. American Craig Brackins (208-87, college: Iowa St.) added 12 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Diamond Dolphins' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Aishin Sea Horses have an impressive 15-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 39-8 record. Diamond Dolphins at the other side keep the second place with 23 games lost. They share the position with Hokkaido L.. Aishin Sea Horses will play against San-en NeoPhoenix (#3) in Hamamatsu in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Diamond Dolphins will play at home against Shiga L-Stars and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
