Regular Season Round 30: Palma - Sammic ISB 56-80

Date: March 31, 2018
Bottom-ranked Sammic ISB managed to get a tenth victory, breaking the four-game losing streak. This time newly promoted Sammic ISB outleveled sixteenth-ranked Palma in S'Arenal 80-56. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 24-point difference proves that Sammic ISB was well-prepared to that game. It looked good early as Palma took a 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Sammic ISB took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 24 points. Sammic ISB had a 26-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Mo Evans (185-94, college: IPFW) scored 13 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Aitor Zubizarreta (190-95, college: Idaho Coll.) chipped in 9 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Four Sammic ISB players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Norwegian forward Karamo Jawara (203-91, college: N.C.Central) with 8 points and 7 rebounds and forward Joan Tomas (202-92) scored 9 points. Palma's coach Xavi Sastre gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Sammic ISB (10-20) moved-up to sixteenth place, which they share with FC Barcelona II and Palma. Sammic ISB will play against higher ranked Magia Huesca (#15) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Palma will play against Leyma Basquet in Coruna and hopes to get back on the winning track.
