Regular Season Round 27: EWE Baskets - B.Muenchen 100-77

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Bayern Muenchen (23-3) in Oldenburg on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by fourth ranked EWE Baskets (18-9) 100-77. EWE Baskets looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a good game for American point guard Mickey McConnell (182-89, college: St.Mary's, CA) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 assists. His fellow American import guard Frantz Massenat (193-92, college: Drexel) contributed with 20 points and 6 assists for the winners. EWE Baskets' coach Mladen Drijencic felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International Danilo Barthel (208-91) answered with 16 points and 7 rebounds and American center Devin Booker (205-91, college: Clemson) added 19 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) in the effort for Bayern Muenchen. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. EWE Baskets have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 18-9 record. Bayern Muenchen at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. EWE Baskets are looking forward to face higher ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bayern Muenchen will play against ratiopharm Ulm and is hoping to win this game.
