Regular Season Round 31: Toshiba BT - Toyota Alvark 89-73

Round 31 in B League means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Kanagawa where host Toshiba Thunders (33-17) beat league's leader Toyota Alvark (37-13) 89-73 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Toyota Alvark. It was a great shooting night for Toshiba Thunders especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) fired 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. International point guard Ryusei Shinoyama (178-88) chipped in 13 points and 6 assists. Five Toshiba Thunders players scored in double figures. American center Alex Kirk (211-91, college: N.Mexico, agency: Pensack Sports) produced 15 points and swingman Zack Baranski (193-92) added 14 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toshiba Thunders maintains third place with 33-17 record having seven points less than leader Ryukyu GK. Toyota Alvark at the other side dropped to the second position with 13 games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Ryukyu GK. Toyota Alvark will play next round against Hitachi Sunrockers trying to make it back to the top of the standings. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will travel locally in Tokyo to the arena of Hitachi Sunrockers. Toshiba Thunders will try to continue on its current victory against first ranked Ryukyu GK in Okinawa.
