Very expected game when 9th ranked Start (14-12) was smashed by third ranked Stelmet Enea BC (19-8) in Zielona Gora 94-72 on Saturday. Stelmet Enea BC dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Start's 28. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Start's players. The former international point guard Lukasz Koszarek (187-84) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 assists. Montenegrin power forward Vladimir Dragicevic (206-86) contributed with 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five Stelmet Enea BC players scored in double figures. Serbian power forward Uros Mirkovic (205-82, agency: BeoExcell) replied with 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American swingman Chavaughn Lewis (196-93, college: Marist) added 8 points and 6 assists in the effort for Start. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains third position with 19-8 record having just three points less than leader Anwil. Loser Start dropped to the eleventh place with 12 games lost. Stelmet Enea BC will face BM Slam Stal (#4) in Ostrow Wlkp. in the next round. Start will play at home against Polpharma (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
