Regular Season Round 25: Karditsas - Kastoria 73-67

There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Karditsas (9-16) won against at home higher ranked Kastoria (15-10) 73-67 on Wednesday. Kastoria trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 15-7 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 67-73 at the end of the game. Karditsas made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Quite impressive performance for Serbian center Stefan Djordjevic (206-89) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Thomas Amparas (190-94) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Four Karditsas players scored in double figures. Point guard Giannis Kyriakopoulos (185-83) answered with 16 points and forward Danis Eleftheriadis (197-89) added 12 points in the effort for Kastoria. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Karditsas moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Marousi. Kastoria at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. Karditsas will face higher ranked Amyntas Dafnis (#6) in Athens in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kastoria will play at home against Papagou and hope to win that game.
