Regular Season Round 26: RR Retail Galli - Campobasso 64-65

The most exciting game of round 26 in the Serie A2 took place in Valdarno. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of second-ranked RR Retail Galli (19-5) to eighth ranked Campobasso (13-12) 65-64 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. Campobasso made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game. They also forced 43 RR Retail Galli turnovers. Strangely RR Retail Galli outrebounded Campobasso 46-33 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. 28 personal fouls committed by RR Retail Galli helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Giulia Ciavarella (183-97) scored 21 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Roberta Di Gregorio (173-90) chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Guard Federica Iannucci (172-93) responded with 15 points and 8 rebounds and center Mounia El-Habbab (188-94) scored 8 points and 11 rebounds. RR Retail Galli's coach Orlando William rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Campobasso maintains eighth position in A2 with 13-12 record. RR Retail Galli at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the fourth place with five games lost. Campobasso are looking forward to face higher ranked Spezzina (#6) in La Spezia in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. RR Retail Galli will play on the road against Forli and is hoping to win this game.
